What is Melton?
A two-year course, developed by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, using the study of texts and original sources to understand Judaism and how it has developed. The course is structured around four themes: traditions, theological concepts, history and ethics.

Is Melton for you?
Whatever your affiliation, if any, whether you already have a deep knowledge or have never opened a Jewish book before, whatever your stage of life, this programme will take you forward. There are no qualifications needed, no requirement to know Hebrew and no homework or exams.

How is Melton taught?
Group discussion of texts, from a variety of compelling and challenging sources - biblical, Talmudic, rabbinic and contemporary. The teaching style is informal and inclusive in a pluralistic environment which encourages lively debate, discussion and learning.

Who will teach me?
The Melton Faculty offers university-quality teaching and Melton's name and reputation attract the highest calibre of teachers worldwide.

When?
Three 10 week terms from October to July for one evening a week for two hours - Thursdays at 7.30pm

At the completion of two years there is a graduation ceremony where a Certificate is awarded. And the learning doesn’t have to stop.

And Beyond
You are eligible to join the Hebrew University UK alumni Association. A choice of graduate programmes is available once you finish the course, including seminars and learning events.

If you can't make Thursday evenings, why not consider Monday mornings? For more information please click here.

For further details please contact Michelle Hyer on 020 8457 5028 or email melton@ljcc.org.uk. You can also visit the Melton mini-site.
