Scott Fitzgerald described Hollywood as “a Jewish dream and a gentile tragedy”. Eastern European Jewish immigrants virtually created the ‘studio system’ and the American ‘image’. Examine themes and individuals to reveal the magic of the big screen, while exploring how Jewish identity was portrayed from the beginnings of Hollywood to today’s blockbusters.
