Holocaust survivor and Nobel Prize winner Elie Wiesel is famous for his writing that serves as a searing memorial to the lost. He wrote that “memory is a passion no less powerful than love”. We will explore his work which, despite the nightmare he endured, is full of Jewish learning, laughter and love.

1 November -‘Night’ (1958/1960). Auschwitz, where was God? Where was Man?

8 November - ‘Dawn’ (1961). The aftermath and political action

15 November - ‘Le Jour’ (1962), ‘the Accident’/‘Day’ Depression and suicide

22 November - ‘The Town Beyond the Wall’ (1964). Sanity and madness. ‘The Gates of the Forest’ (1966) Faith and Friendship.

29 November - ‘Ani Maamin’ (1973). A song and an achievement, lost and found.
