This new addition to our syllabus will examine the lives of extraordinary individuals who made their mark on Jewish or world history. Taking them in pairs we’ll consider their differences and similarities, and their impact on the world stage.
Course will include -
• 2 Refugees: Freud and Einstein
• Israel and the diaspora
• Vilna Gaon and the Baal Shem Tov
• New York and Tel Aviv
• Reform and Orthodoxy
• The UK – the Grandees or the People
• Louis B Mayer and Irving Thalberg
• Isaiah Berlin and George Steiner
