During this course we shall explore the murky waters of Renaissance Italian politics. We shall do so by looking at the story of two quite extraordinary families, The Borgias and The Medicis. They still enthral us today with their ‘interesting’ approach to life, politics, and religion.

2 February - Other Borgias: History, Myth, and Notoriety

9 February - Florence: Some background history to the city

16 February - Cosimo de Medici and the origins of the dynasty

1 March - Lorenzo the Magnificient

8 March - Machiavelli and ‘The Prince’

15 March - Two Medici Popes

22 March - Cosimo I of The Grand Duchy of Tuscany and Marie de Medici, Queen of France

29 March - The end of the line
