Jerusalem: An Architectural, Aesthetic, Historical and Sectarian Tour Series 2

MAY

Julian Barnett

Thursday Evenings, 7.30-9.00pm
Term Starting 24 May
Delving into the Christian and Muslim worlds of the Holy City and looking to its future, we look in depth at each of the sects.

24 May: Resurrection and Living on the Edge: The warring Christian sects of Jerusalem

14 June: Al Quds, Jihad or Izdakah. The many Muslim worlds of Jerusalem.

28 June: The Future of the Holy City. Shining light to the nations, dangerous powder keg or both? What sense can be made of Jerusalem and its incomparably complex web of worlds that this seven week lecture series has described ? What are the options for the future of this city?

This lecture series is the same subject matter as previously delivered in Julian Barnett's Day Special on Jerusalem (click here for more information). However, the major difference is the significantly greater depth that will be devoted to each of the sects studied and the more generous time allowance for the many questions that are posed by course members.

Great attention will be paid to the tiny details within the hundreds of photographs that form the backbone of the lectures. Each week will be non dependent on the other, therefore attendees will not be disadvantaged by going for a single lecture using the voucher system (click here for more information) However, LJCC would be delighted if all opted for the whole of the two courses.
