One of the most influential artists of the late nineteenth century Gauguin will be celebrated at the Tate in the autumn, the first major exhibition of his work in over half a century. Patrick will look at the forthcoming exhibition and Gauguin’s life and works.
Impressionism: The paintings of Monet, Renoir, Pissarro, Morisot and Sisley are sure to draw crowds wherever they are shown in the world. It takes a special effort to understand why these now universally loved artists were once so provocative and controversial. This lecture will show how the Impressionists occupies a pivotal place in the history of Western art between the Old Masters and the modern age.
