Emerging from Brussels in the early 1890s Art Nouveau spread like a virus, mutating into delightful variants as it moved to Paris, Munich, Vienna, Glasgow and Barcelona. Exhausted already before the First World War, the gorgeous and luxurious Art Nouveau style was replaced by the more streamlined elegance of the Art Deco which peaked in 1925 and continued until World War II. These two lectures spread over a day will explore these popular and highly collectable styles.
