Start Point: Trafalgar Square 1pm
A tour looking at the history of Trafalgar Square in a new way. Obscure facts and fascinating tales about the buildings in and around the square, including the Nazi dog grave, the Duke of Wellington’s mounting steps, the human nose on admiralty arch and a walk over to the bronze of Charles I to recall its sad story.
Down Northumberland Avenue and a look at Victoria Gardens, James I’s mulberry tree and the strangest wall sign in London. Turn into nearby but little known Craven Street then onto Villiers Street. Through to the enchanting Embankment Gardens Pointing out the numerous but discreet sculptures and also all of the many architectural features that we are passing along the way. View the last gas lamp in London, Coal Haulers Passage, the Savoy Chapel and Asquith’s governmental headquarters during the National Strike of 1926.
Onto the mysterious Surrey Steps and the most hidden Roman Bath in England. An architectural tour of the Royal Courts of Justice – biblical references, the bear garden, the Lord Chief Justices rooms, the unfinished column and out through the northern entrance into Lincoln Inn Fields where the walk ends.
End Point: Courts of Royal Justice 4pm
