4 October 2011 is the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street, when the Jewish community stood shoulder to shoulder with trades unionists, socialists and communists to stop Mosley’s blackshirted thugs invading the heart of the East End. They rallied to a simple call: “They shall not pass!” The LJCC will be marking this historic victory with a seminar so make a note in your diary now because this is one event you won’t want to miss. This anniversary falls during the Ten Days – there could be no better way to reflect on the conflicts of the past and prepare for the challenges of the future.
