Rebirth is a landmark powerful film that chronicles how New Yorkers have tried to cope with the grief and devastation caused by the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
With dignity it depicts 5 people in mourning, or affected directly by 9/11, and how their emotions have evolved.
We see what they felt and thought every year since 9/11 in very candid interviews with the director Jim Whitaker.
This process of grieving over loved ones and overcoming the pain caused by 9/11 is uniquely captured over time.
It feels nearly as cathartic to watch these people open up so much as it is for them to do so.

Rebirth is connected to much more.
It is a project which highlights the needs of frontline responders.
It is also educational initiatives committed to pre-trauma resiliency building.
And it is the Center for the development of all the all the above - notably in partnership with academic institutions such as Columbia University and Georgetown University.

Rebirth elegantly combines the interviews of the people affected by 9/11 with unique footage of Ground Zero over the years via time-lapse cameras positioned all over that area, from building tops to the streets.
The world-renowned film-composer Philip Glass wrote the score for 'Rebirth'.
With its ethereal, emotional, and light qualities it lends itself very well to the film's spirit of regeneration.
