Alistair Burt, MP for North East Bedfordshire since 2001, is Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Minister for the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. In opposition Alistair was Assistant Chief Whip and Deputy Party Chairman. Previously the MP for Bury North, Alistair served in John Major’s Government as a Minister for Disabled people and Social Security.
