Interlude of Ballet Music
With pianist Philip Gammon 2 - 2.45pm
Works to include Chopin’s A Month in the Country and Dances at a Gathering.
Philip Gammon will also talk about his long association with The Royal Ballet, where he worked with all the leading dancers, including Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev and choreographers Frederick Ashton and Kenneth MacMillan. Gammon is the recipient of the Olivier Award and the 2011 Royal Ballet Gold Medal.
Pavlova and the Modern Ballerina
Tamara Rojo with Gerald Dowler 3.15pm
Royal Ballet Prima Ballerina, Tamara Rojo, joins dance critic and writer Gerald Dowler to explore dramatic expression in dance. Pavlova’s charismatic interpretations inspired audiences throughout the world and continue today through Rojo’s artistry.
Pavlova Day at Ivy House is part of Big Dance 2012.
