Many great songs and dance routines were left on the cutting room floor due to films over-running. Let’s look at some of these great musical numbers featuring Judy Garland, Shirley Temple, Betty Hutton, Fred Astaire, Al Jolson and Audrey Hepburn. Films featured include My Fair Lady, Showboat, That Night In Rio, Pin Up Girl and A Star Is Born
George McGhee is a world renowned speaker on Hollywood. He is asked on mny cruises and on the Queen Mary recently had an audience of 500 for each of his talks (including by chance three LJCC students!). After graduating from Art & Media School George worked in the television and film industry for over 30 years. He began his career as Assistant Film Editor at Scottish Television and progressed to Controller of Programme Acquisition at the BBC and Director of Carlton Cinema Channel for On Digital. He has written many articles for film publications and has been a key speaker about film at various industry organisations. George has had a love for the film industry since his childhood and during his career was fortunate enough to cross paths with many stars, including Peggy Lee, Tom Cruise, Anthony Quinn, Alice Faye, Glenn Close, Ginger Rogers, Robert Wagner, Petula Clark, Angela Lansbury and many more.
