Cities of Light is a one-woman musical and theatrical romp through the wild, satiric cabarets of 1920's Berlin, Tel Aviv, Warsaw, and Paris. It is a love letter to Jewish cabaret artists which Rebecca created out of archival research in all four cities.
Songs are performed mostly in English, together with a smattering of Yiddish, French, German, and Hebrew. Rebecca has performed Cities of Light in synagogues, cabaret spaces, and theatres across the US - including a recent two month, sold-out run at the Piven Theatre in Chicago.
Jen Green, artistic director of Piven writes: "This was the hit show of our season." Cantor Sergei Shwartz of Temple Beth Shalom in New City, NY exclaims: "The show exceeded all expectations. My congregants were elated!" Cities was a recent hit of Limmud UK and has also been presented at the Jewish Museum in London - produced by the Jewish Music Institute - as well as at venues in Paris, Warsaw, and Jerusalem. Anne Quesmond of Paris's La Vieille Grille Theatre raves: "Rebecca illuminates the stage. This show is gold!"
Rebecca is an off-Broadway actress and singer, playwright and synagogue cantor. Find out more about her by visiting www.rebeccajoyfletcher.com
