This walk will highlight how London became
the greatest port in the world; why the docks
were built and their demise.
We will walk through St Katherine’s Dock (where Jewish
immigration came through in the 19th
century) and Wapping and learn about its
colourful characters (artists, writers, pirates
and men on the run!), the demise of the area
and its regeneration.
En route, we will pass some of the oldest pubs in London, renovated
warehouses, a converted power station,
Tobacco dock and the Cable Street mural.
